Athena, formerly known in WWE as Ember Moon, is ready to get back into the ring. Her return match is set for Feb. 12 for the Warrior Wrestling promotion and will be for the Warrior Wrestling Women’s Championship. The current champion is Thunder Rosa.
The promo below shows Rosa saying she will take all challengers before Athena appears.
Athena was released from WWE on Nov. 4 as part of the ongoing cuts the company made in 2021. Her 90-day no-compete clause just expired. Despite never winning gold on the main roster for WWE, she is a former NXT Women’s Champion and a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion w/ Shotzi Blackheart. She was with the company for six years.
As for Rosa, has held the Warrior Wrestling Women’s Championship since defeating Kylie Rae in August of last year. Since then, she has defended her title in both the Warrior Wrestling promotion and Mission Pro Wrestling. She is coming off of a successful victory against La Rosa Negra from last weekend’s MPW Crazy Train event. Mercedes Martinez battled in a nearly 20-minute match at Warrior Wrestling 17 to try and grab the title but wasn’t able to defeat the champ.
Rosa and Martinez will be battling this week on AEW’s Rampage on Feb. 4.
Warrior Wrestling 19 also includes a women’s match between Miranda Alize vs. Skye Blue.
Check back in with Diva Dirt to see if Athena can grab this championship from Thunder Rosa.
