The student may overthrow the teacher if Billie Starkz has anything to say about the ROH Women’s World Champion – Athena.
Billie Starkz didn’t graduate her minion training but she may have the best odds of dethroning Athena. Starkz’s moment was left in shambles when she watched Lexy Nair graduate minion training in place of her on the Nov. 30 episode of ROH. In the ring, Starkz confronted Athena about this decision, but the champion told her not to ruin Nair’s special moment.
As the three were heading up the ramp, Starkz snapped and attacked Athena. She would ask Tony Khan later on in the night if she could face Athena for the title at Final Battle on Dec. 15. Her wish was granted.
Athena would have more to say on this week’s episode against someone unlikely – Eddie Kingston. Kingston recently cut a promo about what it takes to be a champion. Although he doesn’t single out Athena, she took it a certain way to make it crystal clear to Kingston, and anyone else for that matter, that she runs ROH.
“Eddie Kingston. I know that you don’t come to my show very often and you haven’t been here for a while. But the next time that I hear you talk about my show and me as your ROH Women’s World Champion not carrying my weight, I’m going to Backfist you to the future. Let me get one thing straight. My back is so tired from carrying, not only every porcelain hussy I’ve been in the ring with, not only the women’s division but the entire damn show, Eddie, I am the standard at Ring of Honor. I am the workhorse of this entire show and it’s about damn time you put some respect on ‘The Fallen Goddess,’ ‘The Minion Overload’ ‘The Alpha,’ the ROH gatekeeper, but most of all, you’re forever Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion.”
