On this week’s AEW Dynamite was the fallout from Double or Nothing and the first appearance of Athena on the flagship show.
After the TBS Championship match at Double or Nothing, Athena made her debut after Jade Cargill extended her undefeated streak to 32-0 by defeating Anna Jay. After Kris Statlander came out to help Jay, it would be Athena to even the odds three to three with the Baddies.
Athena spoke for the first time in an interview on stage with Tony Schiavone. She made a clear that she is heading right for Cargill and the TBS Championship. The Fallen Goddess was interrupted by Cargill, the Baddies (Kiera Hogan & Red Velvet), and Stokely Hathaway.
Cargill’s new publicist Hathaway scolds Athena for interrupting them at Double or Nothing and says that Cargill is a Queen and a Goddess. Cargill says that Athena will not be getting her title shot today as Hogan stepped up and got in the face of Athena.
Anna Jay joins the side of Athena followed by Statlander. The six women stand face to face as the officials come out to make sure things don’t get physical.
Athena will be taking on Kiera Hogan this Friday on Rampage.
The match on this week’s Dynamite was a tag team rematch from a few weeks ago as the Owen Hart Cup winner Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter took on Ruby Soho & Toni Storm. Soho & Storm were also looking to avenge their losses to Baker in the tournament.
Both Soho & Storm needed a big victory coming off their tournament losses and they got just that. In the final moments of the match Baker tries to apply Lock Jaw but Soho keeps fighting it off. Moments later after Hayter and Storm spill to the outside, Soho sneaks in Destination Unknown to get the pin on Baker and the win for her team.
Post-match, Hayter and Baker attack Storm and Soho using the trophy belt from Baker’s Owen Hart Cup win.
