Awesome Kong gets inducted into the IMPACT Hall of Fame

Awesome Kong becomes the second woman [first was Gail Kim] to ever enter into the IMPACT Hall of Fame. At Knockouts Knockdown, Kong received her flowers as Christy Hemme came to the ring to make the announcement. Kong officially retired from the ring at the end of August at NWA EmPowerrr in a surprise announcement.

Kong is one of the original Knockouts and is certainly the backbone of the division. Her rivalry with Gail Kim is arguably one of the best feuds in women’s wrestling history.

She dedicated her induction to Daffney who passed away on Sept. 1. Daffney broke barriers in wrestling and did so many things that women at the time were told that they couldn’t. Kong stressed the following –  “Do something that opens the door for the next generation cause if not you, who? If not now, when?”

During her time in TNA/IMPACT, Kong’s accomplishments are plentiful. She is a two-time Knockouts Champion and a former Knockouts Tag Team Champion. Other than the gold, she became Queen of the Knockouts in 2015.

Kong has wrestled all around the world and has worked for many, many, promotions.

She will have her formal induction at Bound for Glory on Oct. 23 in Las Vegas.

Thank you Awesome Kong for everything you have done for women’s wrestling and congratulations on this well-deserved achievement.
