AEW is certainly still in its infancy stage. With only a hand full of pay-per-views and a few weeks on tv under its belt, it is hard to expect a fully rounded women’s division. In fact, there has been only one women’s match booked a week since AEW Dynamite has debut earlier in the month.
Awesome Kong made a shocking return to wrestling during AEW’s first pay-per-view at Double or Nothing. Since then she has been involved in the Casino Battle Royale at All Out but hasn’t appeared on Dynamite just yet.
She spoke recently with Women’s Wrestling Weekly about her high hopes for the women’s division in AEW.
“If I say [what’s next], it kind of spills the beans. I will tell you this: after AEW happened, I’m like, it might be possible to put together the greatest female roster ever seen. I just want people to be happy. There are so many unhappy people and I know you can’t please everyone.”
In addition to her high hopes for AEW, many topics were talked about during the interview including questions that were submitted by fans. She was asked who would she wrestle that she hasn’t yet. Her response was Beth Phoenix. A Kong vs. Kong (Aja) was brought up as a prospect for AEW. She commented that we may just see that but of course didn’t say anything for certain.
She was asked from her short time in WWE who kept in touch with her and who was supportive when she left. Natalya and The Bella Twins were on that list.
