Rewinding back to 2004, the Backlash event witnessed Victoria defending the Women’s Championship against Lita in her second reign as champion.
The match between two of the best during this period of women’s wrestling had a match that was evenly matched. Backlash taking place in April of that year, Victoria had won the title in a Fatal 4-way in February on Raw. That match included Lita, Gail Kim, and then-champion Molly Holly.
After a high-risk maneuver from Victoria didn’t pay off, the final moments of the match had Lita setting up Victoria for a Twisted Fate. countered and tried to deliver a backslide. Lita flipped her opponent over but it would be Victoria to get an inside cradle to retain the title.
Post-match, Molly Holly and Gail Kim attacked both Victoria and Lita.
Victoria would hold on to the title until June ending her reign at 110-days. Trish Stratus would win the gold in a Fatal 4-way for the fifth time in her career. This was at the Bad Blood pay-per-view event and also included Lita and Gail Kim.
