Tonight at Battleground, AJ Lee defends the Divas Title against Paige. Will AJ hold on to the title she just won back? The Diva Dirt team weighs in:
Chris: Aah, my dream match. Is anyone buying that Paige from a storyline perspective actually likes AJ? She took Paige’s championship! This whole “friends” thing is just a set-up! AJ Lee will walk out of Battleground with the Divas Championship, but she’ll win by a disqualification. Paige will snap on AJ and show her true Anti-Diva colors, leading to a much crazier AJ that we are used to in the coming weeks, and then a full fledged rematch at SummerSlam.
Cryssi: Okay so as much as I would for Paige to regain the championship, I don’t want WWE to turn into TNA with a game of hot potato championship belt. I fully expect AJ Lee to retain tonight and I’m okay with that as well. She has looked refreshed and rejuvenated since returning and I can’t wait to see what she puts together with Paige tonight on the big stage. They both have the talent to steal the show and surpass Natalya/Charlotte from NXT for Diva Match of the Year. I’m keeping my fingers crossed because my hopes for this are seriously high.
Eleri: AJ has to win this one, right? The majority of diva fans want this feud to go on for a while, and I think AJ needs to keep the belt longer before eventually dropping it back to Paige. The thing is with these two is that they’re quite similar women and that makes for an interesting dynamic on screen. Tonight we’re going to actually see them go toe to toe, rather than getting a quick victory over one another. At least I hope! AJ Lee for the win.
Erin: I don’t think anyone’s expecting AJ to drop the title so soon. To me, this match is all about building towards SummerSlam. The way to make that inevitable match as big and exciting as should be is to up the stakes at Battleground. That means Paige needs to show her true colors and go full-on heel. I think a loss could trigger that. I say AJ Lee retains the title and Paige snaps on her post-match.
Jack: I am loving this “frenemies” fued right now and WWE set iy up really, really well this week without giving us too much. It was perfectly making me salivate at how good the match could be later tonight. I’m predicting AJ Lee to win, which will cement Paige’s full heel turn.
Steven: This “frenemies” angle has literally come out of nowhere, but I must say it’s intriguing. We all know that there is no way that AJ is going to drop the title to Paige so quickly, but it should be a really fun title match. I predict AJ Lee retaining, and Paige either turning on her, or becoming her new Tamina.
