Bayley, the current SmackDown Women’s Champion, defended her title in a triple threat match at a house show over the weekend. The event took place in Stockton, Calif. This match included SmackDown talent Liv Morgan and Ember Moon.
Bayley acknowledged her opponents on Twitter by thanking them and wishing to compete against them again in the future. She was able to retain her title.
A frequent gripe by WWE fans is that the same talent is overutilized. This leads to other talents sitting out of shows despite their fans wishes. Most would argue that Moon and Morgan should have been involved in the recent triple threat match on SmackDown that produced the No. 1 contender for Bayley. Instead, Charlotte Flair, Carmella, and Alexa Bliss were involved in that match which led to Bliss winning.
Prior to last week’s No. 1 contenders match, the champion even mentioned on her social media she wanted new competitors. What she wound up with was a former rival in Bliss who isn’t even on the same brand. It seems as though Bayley wants what the fans want.
Liv Morgan hasn’t had a televised match since WrestleMania and hasn’t appeared on SmackDown since she moved to the brand during the Superstar Shake-Up. This resulted in the break up of the Riott Squad. Ember Moon has appeared since moving to the blue brand, but primarily in backstage segments with Fire and Desire.
