The date for the 2021 Money in the Bank pay-per-view is coming up shortly on June 20. Speculation has already begun regarding who could win the coveted contract. Last year Asuka won and was handed the RAW Women’s Championship by Becky Lynch the next day.
With the assumption that we will be getting a women’s Money in the Bank match this year (seeing as the women did not get an Elimination Chamber match), who will join the previous winners and have the honor of joining a small elite club?
In a recent interview with Sportskeeda, Bayley made her predictions for who could win this year’s match. The names may come as a surprise to some WWE fans, with the Role Model naming The Riott Squad as her winners, saying:
“Oh man, that’s hard. But I’m gonna have to go with either one of the Riott Squad, or two. Both of them. Maybe they could share it. They are best friends right.”
The Riott Squad are popular among fans and would be a great pick. One or both of the stars winning the Money in the Bank match would be a great way to propel them to a more prominent position. The duo came close to winning the tag team turmoil match at WrestleMania 37, but eventually lost out to Natalya and Tamina. Since losing at WrestleMania, the duo hasn’t been seen on TV except for last week when Riott faced Carmella in a losing effort.
Bayley also opened up on her own Money in the Bank win
Bayley is a former Miss Money in the Bank herself. The star won the briefcase in 2019, and cashed in on Charlotte Flair that same night. On her time as Miss Money in the Bank, Bayley commented:
“Yeah, I think I would have had a lot of fun with it. I thought about that, you know, that night actually and I was like man, I would have loved to just carry it around and tease something. You know, that’s something where you’re always gonna be on TV just teasing the briefcase and teasing like ‘Is she gonna cash it in or not” and you’re always kind of a part of the title picture that way.“
She continued:
“And I thought it would just be kind of cool just to say that, you know, call myself Miss Money in the Bank for a longer amount of time. But then Carmella was like ‘No you do not want that burden of carrying’, she literally had to like carry it on to the airplanes and people have no idea what it is. So I’m like alright yeah, you’re probably right. I’m happy to just have that moment that I did.”
