It has been announced that Sasha Banks and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley have a chance to become two-time Women Tag Team Champions next week on SmackDown. The match was announced after Banks had a one-on-one match victory against Alexa Bliss on this week’s show.
The build-up for this started with the A Moment of Bliss segment which featured the Tag Team Championship Summit episode. Bliss and Nikki Cross‘ guests were the SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day.
They each shared who they see as their next opponents. With the women’s tag team division very thin as all of us fans know, The New Day questioned WHO would challenge the champions next? This is when Bayley’s music hits and her and Banks make their way to the ring.
They gloat that if it wasn’t for them then the women wouldn’t even have Tag Team Titles. The inaugural champions feel that they are ready to get the tag gold back. Bliss mocked Banks as she was the only person in the ring that did not have a championship around their waists. This prompted Bayley to volunteer Banks to face Bliss one-on-one.
Banks was able to pick up a much-needed win as she pins Bliss after some distraction by Bayley and Cross on the ring apron.
Bliss & Cross have been having run-ins with The IIconics on RAW, so it will be interesting to see where this all leads. If Banks & Bayley are unable to pick up the gold next week, could we maybe see a Triple Threat for Backlash?
