WWE.com has published a new list ranking the top ten matches in NXT history, and a lauded Divas match has landed at number one.
Bayley and Sasha Banks‘s match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn topped the list, beating out several acclaimed men’s matches, including Neville vs. Sami Zayn from NXT TakeOver: R Evolution.
Bayley and Sasha are quoted in the article, giving their perspective on the momentous match:
“It was our first time away from Full Sail, with a sold-out crowd,” Banks explained. “I didn’t know how [the crowd] was going to react.”
“Hearing the crowd, I knew mid-match that we were doing something really special,” Bayley said.
“Just to be in that ring, with everyone on their feet and cheering, it brought me back to when I was a little kid and people didn’t care about women’s wrestling,” Banks said. “They would call our matches the ‘bathroom break.’ But everyone stayed, stood up and chanted. Those were the loudest cheers I’ve ever heard in my life — for our match.”
Also on the list were Becky Lynch vs. Sasha at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable (#9); Charlotte vs. Natalya in the NXT Women’s Title tournament finals (#5); and Emma vs. Paige at NXT ArRIVAL (#4).
