Bayley came back from injury in a huge way, and she didn’t come back alone.
At SummerSlam, a new faction was formed when Bayley returned to confront Bianca Belair alongside a returning Dakota Kai and IYO SKY. All three women were at a very different spots in their careers. Bayley was sidelined for over a year, Kai was released from WWE in April, and SKY was out with an undisclosed injury and her placement within in the company was unknown. All three came together and shocked the world at SummerSlam in a very good way. Especially for fans of women’s wrestling.
Bayley has done a lot in her career in WWE thus far and she could just be scratching the surface of her full potential. With that in mind, she also wants to take a leadership role and wants to get the locker room all on the same page to put together the best show possible. In that she wants to get the very much horribly mistreated WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship belts back.
While talking on the After the Bell podcast, Bayley had the following to say –
“It’s going to be a long road, just putting things together and trying to show certain people, or trying to get the whole locker room on the same page,” she said.
“If we worked a little less selfishly if we kind of see the bigger picture. I feel like we’ve been in this tunnel of, we’re trying to show our bosses, ‘I have what it takes. No, I have what it takes.’ It turns us against each other. No, let’s show them all what we can do. If we all show them that we can get along and do a show and we’re not going to complain about every little thing, then it will make them want to give us more because we’re easier to work with. There is a fine line between fighting for what you believe in and then trying to make the best out of every situation. I think I can help the girls that I bring in navigate these things to further the division. I want the tag titles to come back and play a very important role on the show.”
Over the years Bayley has been known as one of the safest workers to be in the ring with and also has appeared to be one of the easiest to get along with.
“I am capable to…I get along with most everybody and I think I can help everybody realize that I’m not doing this because I’m selfish and I’m not doing this because I want it all about me, I’m doing this or the bigger picture and it’s going to be better in the end. Trust the process. Trust me. Trust what we’re doing.”
Bayley clarified some of her comments with – “I’m not saying that’s not the case right now. Sometimes, we get so wrapped up in this hamster wheel and we just do our job and it’s ‘Okay, let me go back and do whatever.’ It’s going to take a lot more focus to take this to the next level, which I think we’re going to get to.”
The last time the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles were seen was in May and around the waist of Sasha Banks and Naomi. After stating that Banks and Naomi walked out before an episode of Raw in May, they were suspended indefinitely and stripped of the gold. WWE quickly said there would be a tournament to crown new champions but that was dropped quickly and hasn’t been mentioned again. The championships are still listed as vacant on WWE.com, for now, 77-days and counting.
Bayley is a two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Sasha Banks while her new stablemates of Dakota Kai and IYO SKY have won tag team gold in NXT.
