The talk of WWE reintroducing Tag Team for their Women’s division resurfaced this past Friday (June 22) during an Ace Comic Con in Seattle.
During a Q & A panel hosted by Lilian Garcia that featured SmackDown Superstars Becky Lynch and Shinsuke Nakamura, Lynch said that she had been pushing the idea for it for some time now and suggested that she would like to seem defended between Raw, SmackDown and even the NXT brand:
“Right now, numbers wise I don’t think we have enough women to have one on each brand. So, what I think would be very cool is if they were traveling. But not just between Raw and Smackdown but NXT too. Then, you have a huge range of women you could go against and so many possibilities. Been pitching it for a year, maybe two.”
In 1983, the WWE acquired the NWA Women’s Tag Championships but the titles were eventually shelved by 1989.
