Becky Lynch is the biggest name in wrestling. The current SmackDown women’s champion recently returned to WWE and instantly created headlines. Making headlines is nothing new to Lynch who has done it throughout her career.
One of the moments that made The Man came by pure accident and cemented her legacy. The incident in question was in 2018 on an episode of RAW. In the lead up to that year’s Survivor Series Team SmackDown, spearheaded by Lynch, attacked Team RAW. During the fracas, Nia Jax struck Lynch breaking her face in the process. Despite being in tremendous pain, severely concussed and bleeding heavily Lynch went into survival mode continued the angle and created one of the most iconic scenes in wrestling history.
In an interview with GiveMeSports, the Man stated that the incident had a profound impact on her career and she needs to buy Jax a gift for mistakingly making it happen.
“Gosh, I think that, in retrospect, I need to buy Nia Jax a bouquet of flowers because I think without that image, you know, myself covered in blood on top of the stands with my arms out, like my career, it may not have gotten to the place that it’s gotten now, you know?”
“So yeah, 100% it was a blessing in disguise. I don’t know what would have happened otherwise. We (Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey) would have had our match, I probably would have won. Who knows? Who knows what would have happened? It’s so hard to tell, but I am very grateful for everything that happened along the way.”
The injury momentarily halted plans but ultimately led to Lynch’s crowning achievement of winning the main event of WrestleMania 35.
