In probably the most predictable match-up to happen at this year’s WrestleMania, Becky Lynch defended her RAW Women’s Championship. With a storyline leading up to the Elimination Chamber and Shayna Baszler‘s “dominant” performance at that event, her being Lynch’s opponent was obvious.
Last year Lynch won both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Championships in the first-ever women’s WrestleMania main event. This year she wanted to make sure the title she has held for almost 365-days stays with her and she did just that.
The two women started the match off exchanging blows and Baszler tried to put The Man away early with her Kirifuda Clutch. From this quick onset it caused both women to take the action out of the ring early.
The match was pretty back and forth until Baszler started dominating later on. Both women would be on offense for a good portion of the bout. There were many attempts of both the Kirifuda Clutch and the Dis-Arm-Her to put each other away. Baszler would even try the Dis-Arm-Her herself to try and make Lynch submit.
Baszler would start dominating towards the end of the match when the two were on the outside. Lynch would find herself the victim of being pummeled into the side of the announce table over and over again. Once back in the ring, Lynch would be playing a little bit of possum but found herself in the Kirifuda Clutch. The move that Baszler has put away many of her competitors in NXT had her moments from the RAW Women’s Championship.
Lynch would turn over the submission move and as Baszler’s shoulders wound up on the mat, the count of three is all that was needed for Lynch to retain. Baszler seemingly was distraught after the loss.
