The Man [and The Mom] Becky Lynch is back. And she is the NEW SmackDown Women’s Champion.
Becky Lynch, after not having a match for 17-months and being off WWE programming since May 2020 returned at SummerSlam and in mere seconds after pinning Bianca Belair.
Belair was poised to face Sasha Banks in a rematch from WrestleMania that the fans were more than excited to see. WWE advertised the match all the way up until the match was set to start. After Belair entered the ring first, ring announcer Greg Hamilton announced that Banks was not in the building and that replacing her would be…Carmella.
Carmella, who has had several championship matches with Belair in the past couple of months, was ready to have another go at it. Her hope was short-lived as Becky Lynch’s music hit.
The Man made her way out to thunderous applause. Once she entered the ring, she disposed of Carmella and then took to the mic. Lynch then asked the crowd how about we see The EST face The Man for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. After taking a moment to think, Belair agreed.
The crowd was hyped to see what many would consider a dream match, but unfortunately for The EST, she would lose the championship swiftly as Lynch hits her with a ManHandle Slam. In mere seconds, Lynch becomes a four-time SmackDown Women’s Champion.
