PWI (Pro Wrestling Illustrated) has announced that Becky Lynch is officially number one on the PWI Women’s 100 list for 2019. The issue is available for preorder and digital download at PWI Online.
The PWI list for the female talent used to be only a top 50 list. Due to the recent focus on women’s wrestling across the industry for the past several years, last year’s edition was doubled to the top 100.
Last year’s list was controversial which led to one of their senior writers, Dan Murphy, to speak out on how the list is constructed and to answer some frequently asked questions.
For those who need a refresher, last year Ronda Rousey landed at number one with Becky Lynch not even cracking the top 10. She was ranked number 11 in 2018. A lot of this had to do with the time period of when they garner their information to compile the list.
Lynch may not have cracked the top 10 last year but she was announced as Woman of the Year in 2018. Asuka was her predecessor in 2017.
The PWI 500 list that generally only includes the men was announced for this year at the end of August. Seth Rollins was ranked at number one.
The rest of the top 10 are as follows:
- 2. Charlotte Flair
- 3. Ronda Rousey
- 4. Shayna Baszler
- 5. Tessa Blanchard
- 6. Bayley
- 7. Natalya
- 8. Io Shirai
- 9. Mercedes Martinez
- 10. Nicole Savoy
