Bianca Belair earned herself a rematch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship on last week’s SmackDown after winning a Fatal 4-Way. On this week’s SmackDown, Belair tried to convince The Man to put her title on the line tonight.
She wasn’t able to convince the champ who responded with a resounding “no.” Backstage, the SmackDown Women’s Champion ran into Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce. Lynch said she was going to defend her title when she wanted to. Deville confirmed that the two will clash at Extreme Rules. Extreme Rules will take place on Sept. 26.
Next week, WWE returns to Madison Square Garden for SmackDown. Lynch and Belair will have a contract signing for their upcoming match.
SmackDown seemed to forget about booking the women in a match this week as there wasn’t one. Other than confirmation for Lynch vs. Belair at Extreme Rules, a few other women were in backstage segments.
Toni Storm appeared for the first time since her debut on the blue brand on July 23. She was backstage as Dolph Ziggler was heading to the ring for his match against Rick Boogs. Storm confirmed that she was rooting for Boogs much to the disappointment of Ziggler.
Lastly, Naomi was told by Sonya Deville to check in with her this week on getting a match. Naomi returned to SmackDown last week from nearly a year on the RAW brand. Deville brushed off the return saying that she wasn’t even informed of this and wasn’t sure what Naomi could bring to the brand.
When Naomi approached her this week, Deville once again brushed her off and told her to get with her next week.
There was one women’s match on this week’s 205 Live which saw NXT’s Amari Miller face Cora Jade. Miller picked up the victory marking this as her first win in WWE.
