There are a lot of rumors swirling around for WrestleMania 37. The event was originally announced to be at the new SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Cali. As a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is now mostly confirmed that the event will be in Tampa, Fla. at Raymond James Stadium.
The location in Tampa was where WrestleMania 36 was supposed to happen, but the pandemic halted it and it was held at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla. with no crowd. Now there is more than just the location of the biggest event of the year making headlines. Word is that a match between Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey is in the plans.
Lynch, who is currently out on maternity leave, is expected to soon have her first child. She made the announcement in May after the Money in the Bank pay-per-view that she is pregnant. She last wrestled at WrestleMania 36 against Shayna Baszler and retained her RAW Women’s Championship. She relinquished it to Asuka after making her announcement, saying that Asuka won the title by capturing the Money in the Bank briefcase.
The former RAW Women’s Champion hasn’t confirmed herself what is in her plans after giving birth. As for Rousey, she has been reportedly keeping up with her training in the ring. Former IMPACT Wrestling star James Storm took to his social media to show that he had been training with the Baddest Woman on the Planet.
Paul Heyman has alluded recently that Rousey may have signed an extension to her WWE contract. Speaking to the New York Post, Heyman had the following to say:
“Everyone presumes that Ronda Rousey’s contract expires at a certain time. I don’t understand why people don’t realize that perhaps, just perhaps, Ronda Rousey’s contract has been extended or she has worked out a new deal and it would not benefit either WWE or Ronda Rousey to go public with that information. But why wouldn’t people understand that it would be kept secret?”
Rousey has not been seen in the ring since being involved in the first female main event at a WrestleMania in 2019. It was a Winners Take All Match in a Triple Threat that included Lynch and Charlotte Flair. Lynch would win becoming both the RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion.
