Trish Stratus – 2019 – SummerSlam
Trish Stratus’ return isn’t exactly like the rest on this list. Her return wasn’t a surprise as it was announced formerly but it still makes it a return nonetheless. She had returned previously for matches such as the 2018 Royal Rumble and her tag team match along with Lita at the Evolution pay-per-view. Stratus also had a couple of tag team matches on RAW during this time.
This return, however, was a one-on-one match with Charlotte Flair at SummerSlam.
In a match that will forever be etched in history, two top performers of their respective eras went toe to toe. This was Stratus’ first one-on-one match since 2006. She would also announce that this would be her very last match.
Stratus would put up a fight and even shows us some new moves in her arsenal. She would end up losing the match and as a type of “passing of the torch,” Flair would be victorious and continue to consider herself The Queen of all Eras.
Sasha Banks – 2019 – RAW
The most recent and memorable return was the one and only – Sasha Banks.
Banks took a highly publicized four-month hiatus from her loss at WrestleMania until she returned the RAW after SummerSlam in August. Her time off was to reflect on herself and regroup both mentally and physically.
During her time away there were many rumblings on if she would return, which means that her comeback was that much more enjoyable. She would return during a segment where Natalya was talking about her loss at SummerSlam. It was also the anniversary of her father’s passing.
Banks’ music would hit to a huge reaction. With a big smile she would make her way down the ramp and into the ring to embrace her friend, Natalya. After a quick reunion amongst the two, Banks would attack Natalya from behind turning heel in the process and revealing her new look.
Becky Lynch would rush to the ring to try and save Natalya which would open up the feud for one of the best matches of the year. Lynch vs. Banks at Hell in a Cell.
