WWE Hall of Famer and multi-time women’s champion Beth Phoenix has announced on her social media that she will no longer be a commentator on NXT. She confirms that WarGames this Sunday will be her last show.
Phoenix reveals that she has made this decision to step away from her weekly duties so that she can spend more time with her family. She has been a full-time commentator for NXT since 2019 and was part-time in 2018.
In her announcement, Phoenix thanked several co-workers including her fellow commentators (both current and past) along with Triple H and Shawn Michaels. She states she will not be leaving WWE and will remain a part of the company.
Phoenix writes –
“Ahead of WarGames, I wanted to share that this Sunday will be my final night in NXT. While I will remain a part of WWE, I have made the choice to step away from the weekly broadcast booth to spend more time with my family. This was not an easy decision, as I have loved my three plus years and 135 episodes with NXT and am incredibly proud of the brand. I will forever be grateful to Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett, Nigel McGuinness, Tom Phillips, Mauro Ranallo, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Michael Cole, and my entire NXT family both in and out of the ring for the amazing opportunity. NXT will always be a part of me and Auntie Betty will always be a part of NXT. Leave the porch light on for me!”
Speculation has brewed on Phoenix possibly making an in-ring return. Former two-time Divas Champion Maryse made her return this past Monday on RAW and accompanied her husband, The Miz, to the ring. They interrupted a promo made by Edge who is the husband of Phoenix.
According to PWInsider, Maryse’s return is not a one-time occurrence and there has been possible talk for a rivalry to occur between Phoenix/Edge and Maryse/Miz. This has not been confirmed time of this writing.
Diva Dirt wants to thank Beth for her time in NXT and for giving women a voice on commentary for several years.
