Bianca Belair shockingly lost the SmackDown Women’s Championship to a returning Becky Lynch at SummerSlam.
Initially, Belair was to defend the title against Sasha Banks. However, the Boss was unable to perform due to undisclosed reasons.
The Man made her surprise come back to the delight of the live crowd. Once in the ring, she challenged Belair, who agreed. Lynch then sucker-punched the champ, hit the Manhandle Slam and pinned Belair in just 27-seconds.
Speaking to Instinct Culture by Denice Salcedo Belair addressed everything that went down at the “Biggest Party of the Summer.”
Here’s what the EST of WWE had to say:
“Right now, I’m just trying to collect my thoughts. Everything happened too quickly. I was ready to fight Sasha Banks, and Becky came out, which was an amazing moment. I’m happy to be a part of that, but I lost my title, and right now, I’m just emotional and trying to wrap my head around it. I have to be honest I feel defeated right now and I’m ok with being vulnerable and honest about it, but I’m ready to get my title back.”
Belair was then asked what it was like to be in the ring during the moment of Lynch’s long-awaited return.
It was bittersweet, Becky Lynch, what she has accomplished inside and outside the ring. She’s The Man is a legend in the making, so it was bittersweet to know that she was coming out and to hear that pop from the crowd and hear the vibration from the WWE Universe, its nothing like you’ve ever felt before.” Belair continued. “I just can’t help but to feel a little sad about the situation and just ready to get back in there and get my rematch because I deserve a rematch.”
The former SmackDown women’s champion then addressed the situation surrounding her original opponent, Sasha Banks.
“All I can say is, tonight it couldn’t happen with Sasha Banks, but coming soon, it will be a time where Sasha and I are in the ring again. So, we are definitely going to finish what we started off, and you know, it’s been a tough couple of weeks for Sasha Banks, and I was ready to put an end to her tonight. So whenever that time happens, I’m going to be ready to put an end to her and move over to Becky.”
The loss and how it happened was heavily criticised by fans and WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella. All eyes will be on Friday Night SmackDown this week for the SummerSlam fallout.
