This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured a tag team match, which stemmed from last week’s backstage attack. NWA Women’s World champion, Serena Deeb teamed with Big Swole to face Ivelisse and Diamante. The show also featured an appearance from Thunder Rosa and the family Rhodes dropped some wonderful news.
Before the action, we hear from an irate Thunder Rosa. Rosa goes right after Britt Baker saying stuck her big nose in her business and cost her the NWA women’s title match and that she does indeed belong in AEW. The interview is interrupted by Reba/Rebel, which allows Baker to blindside Rosa. Baker says that she doesn’t belong here before humiliating her by rubbing off her face paint and calling her ugly. This rivalry is deeply personal and the feud is absolute fire.
Baker and Rosa have been excellent in this war of words and sneak attacks thus far. AEW seems to be playing the long game with the angle giving much more emphasis to their inevitable match.
Let’s get to the action.
The aggression was clear to see from the start of this match as Deeb and Ivelisse went at it in vicious fashion. Swole and Diamante were as equally tenacious exchanging grinding holds and big moves.
Double team suplex from Diamante and Ivelisse gives them control of the match. Deeb gets the hot tag and explodes into action taking on both her opponents at once. Despite her in-ring prowess, the numbers game gives Diamante and Ivelisse the advantage once more.
Swole enters the ring and delivers a headbutt to Diamante followed by a Tiger Driver into the Clearwater Cloverleaf for the submission victory.
After the match, Nyla Rose along with Vickie Guerrero attack the winners with Guerrero delivering some of the worst offence ever seen in a wrestling ring. Thankfully Red Velvet made the save by smashing Rose in the back with a steel chair before chasing off Ivelisse and Diamante.
This was a really good tag team match with all four putting in some hard-hitting and stiff offence. Serena Deeb was fantastic and looked every bit the skilled in-ring expert she is.
The post-match brawl was a good way of keeping this rivalry going. It looks as if we will be getting a trios tag team between the six very soon. It will be interesting to see where this angle goes as it evolved from the Jade Cargill and Brandi Rhodes feud. But now Brandi is expecting a baby she will be no longer be an onscreen talent, which seemingly puts the main storyline on ice. Hopefully, the angle continues as AEW need to have as many storylines involving the women’s division as possible.
AEW Women’s World Champion, Hikaru Shida will be in action on next week’s show. Will Abadon attack her as she did recently? We will have to wait until next week.
