If you are a fan of tag team wrestling then you know that it is crucial to keep The IIconics together right now. In a time where we have a Women’s Tag Team Championship and the number of tag teams in the division can only be counted on one hand, we don’t need them splitting up anytime soon. Prior to their return, they had been missing in action for close to seven months. So having them return to just break them up would be rather unnecessary.
The reason why this is even a topic is because of what happened this past Monday night on RAW. The IIconics had a chance to become two-time tag champs as they faced the current champions, Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross. Peyton Royce became too overly aggressive and after throwing Bliss into the ring post numerous times the official made the call to disqualify her team thus costing them the titles.
After the match, Royce and Billie Kay were backstage arguing over what had happened. Kay would slap her teammate and best friend and then immediately regretted it and apologized. The two hugged it out and cried.
The IIconics were guests on WWE’s The Bump recently and Kay had the following to say about the incident:
“I’m just going to say this once, and then we can move on from it, that was our first fight in 15 years of friendship, our first fight ever,” Kay stated. “It just so happens that it was televised for the whole world to see. On Monday night, our emotions just got the better of us. Peyton got frustrated in the match, and then I got frustrated after the match. I think what we need to focus on, and you see in that clip even the fight it’s what happens after that, was us embracing each other. It’s us saying that we love each other and that we’re sorry.“
She continues, “At the end of the day, we want to become the two-time Tag Team Champions. That’s still the goal for us. It’s heartbreaking to watch, I don’t like to see it at all, but we’ve moved past it. We’re still The IIconics, and we’re stronger than ever.”
The moment of this can be seen in the video above at about the one hour mark of the show.
