There’s a new twist to the Sasha Banks situation. According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the popular tandem known as the Boss ‘N’ Hug Connection weren’t made aware that they would drop the titles or split up until the day of WrestleMania 35.
Further muddying the waters of this story was the fact that this decision, according to Meltzer, was not a last-minute call.
“It should be noted that the decision to put the women’s tag titles on The IIconics wasn’t a last-minute decision,” Meltzer wrote in the latest edition of his newsletter.
“Banks & Bayley weren’t told until the day of the show. They were also told at the time that the company was going to drop them as a tag team.”
Banks hasn’t spoken on the situation, but her and Bayley’s behavior seems to suggest they were going to continue to be a tag team. The Hugger posted this on Twitter on Monday night, which seems to contradict Meltzer’s claim.
As Meltzer also noted, WWE made the decision to split them Sasha and Bayley up in advance, but they didn’t let the pair know that until WrestleMania. It’s unclear what’s true at this point.
Bayley moved to Smackdown in this past week’s Superstar Shake-Up, while Sasha Banks hasn’t appeared on WWE television for the last two weeks.
