Bound For Glory Preview & Predictions: 10.23.21

IMPACT! Wrestling’s next PPV, Bound For Glory takes place in Las Vegas tonight.

The show features at least three matches involving the Knockouts, all three of which are championship bouts.

The first in the debut of The IInspiation taking on Decay for the Knockouts Tag Team Championship.

Next, there will be a first Digital Media Champion crowned as six competitors fight to be the first to hold this intergender title.

Lastly, Mickie James challenges Deonna Purrazzo for Knockouts Championship.

Decay (c) vs. The IInspiration – Knockouts Tag Team Championships

The IInspiration make their long-awaited return to the ring with a shot at the championships in their IMPACT! Wrestling debut. They have put a lot of work into their return and are said to be feeling creatively free before even making their debut. This will be the first time they enter a ring since their release from WWE in April.

Rosemary and Havok collectively known as Decay are two wrestlers not to be messed with, and could easily spoil the popular Australian duo’s big comeback. Decay has held the championships since July where they won the belts off of Fire ‘N Flava on the Slammiversary pre-show.

Predictions:

John: Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay are two of my favourite performers. They were drastically under-utilised in WWE and deserve to shine. And they will with a title win in their first match for IMPACT!

Nick: Everything is pointing to The IInspiration making the biggest debut they can by grabbing the titles off the bat. I am going with The IInspiraton for the win, but Decay spoiling their debut by retaining would be a fantastic start to a rivalry.

Chelsea Green vs. Jordynne Grace vs. Madison Rayne vs. John Skyler vs. Fallah Bahh vs. Crazzy Steve – IMPACT Digital Media Championship

A number of weeks ago, IMPACT introduced a new championship that can be fought for by anybody. The new intergender title is name the Digital Media Championship and has a focus on the IMPACT Plus and digital media outlets.

Heading into determining who will grab the belt first, there were six qualifying matches in which six people emerged. Those six will now battle in a match to determine the inaugural champion.

Tenille Dashwood originally defeated Alisha in order to qualify for this final match. She has since been removed and replaced by Madison Rayne. The reason for her removal was not provided.

Predictions:

John: I’d love to see Jordynne take this but Chelsea will win this.

Nick: Really super bummed that Tenille is no longer in this match as this title is perfect for her gimmick and she has been deserving of gold for a long time. With that being said I am about half and half with either Chelsea or Madison taking it. Thinking that Tenille would have been the winner, they could have Madison take it as she is part of The Influence, or they could give the win to Chelsea. I think Madison will be the one to win it.

Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs. Mickie James – Knockouts Championship

Mickie James and Deonna Purrazzo have been on a collision course for months.

In the lead-up NWA EmPowerrr, James invited Purrazzo to wrestle on the show. However, the invite came just after Purrazzo had defeated Thunder Rosa. Purrazzo took the interruption as an insult and the rivalry began.

At Empowerrr, Purrazzo defeated James’ handpicked opponent, Melina. The following night at NWA 73, Purrazzo attacked James after her match with Kylie Rae.

James then challenged The Virtuoso to a title match at Bound For Glory. At first, Purrazzo denied James, but Scott D’Amore made the match official. Over the following weeks, their feud has intensified and saw Purrazzo brutally attack James at her home in a barnyard brawl.

After it was clear that they couldn’t keep their hands off of each other, D’Amore issued a non-contact clause to avoid any further issues. Gail Kim then determined that the two will pick the other’s opponent in a “Pick Your Poison” match. James picked Masha Slamovich for Purrazzo who the champ went on to defeat at Knockouts Knockdown. Purrazzo chose Savannah Evans for James who returned to an IMPACT ring for the first time in six years this week. James defeated Evans.

Predictions:

John: Loved this feud and as much as I’d like to see Mickie James win the title, Deonna Purrazzo is unstoppable as the champ and she’ll continue to do so.

Nick: In my opinion, this has been the best booking of feud in women’s wrestling overall in the past few months. The storytelling has been great. I think that Purrazzo will retain here and she will eventually drop the title to Mercedes Martinez who is waiting to face the winner of this match.

Lastly, there is a Call Your Shot Gauntlet match to take place. This match in the past has included the Knockouts but there have been no women officially announced as participants. The match has 20-people and there was a Battle Royal to determine that 20th entrant. In that match, there were a few Knockouts including Alisha, Brandi Lauren, Kimber Lee, and Rachael Ellering. They may show up in this match tonight.

The winner of this match gets to face a champion of their choosing.

Awesome Kong will receive her formal introduction into the IMPACT Hall of Fame. It was announced that she was the next to be inducted at Knockouts Knockdown. It will air right before Bound for Glory at 9:30 PM ET. Gail Kim will induct her.
