AEW’s power couple, Britt Baker and Adam Cole are to team up in a mixed tag team match for the first time on AEW television.
The AEW Women’s Champion and Cole will face the duo of Kris Statlander and Orange Cassidy on the January 19th edition of Dynamite.
The match was set after a brawl broke on the recent episode of AEW’s flagship show. Cole, reDRagon, the Young Bucks were attacked by the Best Friends. During the melee, Statlander ran down and got in the face of Cole. This brought out Baker, who made the save taking her out with a foot stomp. She followed up the assault by planting a kiss on her man in the middle of the ring.
Later on, in the show, Baker joined Cole in a backstage segment to challenge Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander to a match on next week’s show.
Although it is the first time Baker and Cole will team on AEW, they have previously fought together as tag team partners. In 2017, they captured tag team gold when they defeated Roppongi Vice to become Wrestle Circus Big Top Tag Team Championships.
Elsewhere on Dynamite, Serena Deeb made quick work of Hikaru Shida. Deeb attacked Shida before the bell and destroyed her knee causing a referee stoppage. After the match, Deeb continued to attack Shida before being fended off by more referees.
The win and post-match attack continues their feud, establishes Deeb as a badass while allowing Shida time off to return to Japan for her acting commitments.
