Dr. Britt Baker is your NEW AEW Women’s World Champion after defeating Hikaru Shida at Double or Nothing. Let the era of the D.M.D. begin!
Baker won the match after Shida tapped out to the LockJaw submission. Shida tried to get out of the submission hold but Baker rolled her back without losing her grip. During the match, Rebel did get involved by accidently hitting Baker with her crutch. Shida tried to capitalize and went for the pin but Baker kicked out at two from that mishap.
Shida loses the title at 372-days and with that lengthy title reign she is sitting pretty high as the longest reigning champion. Baker becomes the fourth woman to become champion since the title’s debut in October 2019.
Also at Double or Nothing, during the pre-show Buy In event, Serena Deeb retained her NWA World Women’s Title against Riho. Deeb is currently sitting at 215-days with the title after she defeated Thunder Rosa in October.
AEW’s next big pay-per-view will be All Out and will be taking place on September 5 in Chicago. It was previously reported that this event will have a women’s Casino Battle Royale.
