The face of the AEW women’s division is back. As announced, Britt Baker will be in action on next week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. This will be her first time in the ring since injuring her knee back in May.
Baker took part at AEW All Out in the Tooth and Nail match against Big Swole. Filmed in the “cinematic” style, this match took place in Baker’s dental practice and not in the ring as many expected. The desicion for this style of match was to protect Baker’s knee, which wasn’t fully healed. Now it seems as though she cleared for action and ready to return.
The show also featured the hard-hitting tag team match between Hikaru Shida and Thunder Rosa vs Diamante and Ivelisse.
As expected the action was fierce, forceful and looked as if it really hurt. The two teams fought in and around the ring landing some innovative offence such as Diamante hanging over the apron and receiving double strikes to either side of her head. Ouch.
Back in the ring, Diamante and Ivelisse would double team Shida. Shida would break free and suplex Ivelisse into Diamante.
The back and forth action continued until Shida landed a Falcon Arrow on Diamante, but Ivelisse made the save. Rosa took Ivelisse out, allowing Shida to land a running knee strike on Diamante for the pinfall victory.
This wasn’t the greatest match but the fire and intensity shown is just what AEW’s women’s division needed. Let’s hope there are plenty more like this on the horizon.
