Britt Baker wants to face Deonna Purrazzo in a cross-promotion match

AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker wants to finally have the women included in the AEW and IMPACT Wrestling cross-promotion. At the end of 2020, the two companies announced some exciting news that they were going to work together moving forward in some capacity.

Many fans and talent alike were excited about the possibilities. However, since that announcement very few wrestlers have worked shows for both promotions. And zero women have been involved.

Baker is now ready to change that course of action. While speaking on Vickie Guerrero’s Excuse Me! podcast, Executive Vice President of IMPACT Scott D’Amore discussed this topic. He says that Baker has already asked him when she is going to be able to get her hands on Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo. Champion vs. Champion match to see who is the best.

“That’s a great question and look, I get it tweeted out at me and everything all the time,” says D’Amore. “All I can say is, from our perspective — look, I got cornered by Britt Baker down in Jacksonville a few weeks ago and she’s like, ‘When do I get Deonna?’ I said, “Hey, Britt oh, come on. We’ve always said we have an open-door policy and we’re open to doing it. you know the deal in wrestling sometimes there’s a lot of hurdles to jump through but I think the relationship with AEW has been fantastic.” [h/t – Fightful]

He continues the discussion,  “I think that Tony Khan is a breath of fresh air in many ways in the wrestling industry and it’s just been great to deal with a person who is in a different company where there’s honesty and transparency and it’s like hey, let’s do that. You know why? Because that’s cool!’ We share our vision for a world like that and I love to see it because I mean whether it’s Nyla Rose or whether it’s some of the many other talents that you have there.”\

Deonna Purrazzo

Baker will be putting her title on the line against Nyla Rose on Night Two of Fyter Fest on July 21. Purrazzo is set to defend her title at Slammiversary this Saturday, July 17. As of this time, her opponent remains a mystery and she will find out who she is facing on the day of the event.
