Survivor Series is already this Sunday, but before this popular event takes place it is NXT’s turn to take center stage tonight at Takeover: WarGames. The match that focuses on the women is a rematch for Kairi Sane as she takes on the current champion, Shayna Baszler. The Sane and Baszler rivalry dates back over a year ago when they competed in the finals of the first installment of the Mae Young Classic. Sane won that bout in September of 2017, but Baszler was the first to capture the title in April of this year as she defeated Ember Moon the night before Wrestlemania at Takeover: New Orleans.
Since obtaining the title in her first reign, Baszler has had an ongoing feud with Sane. Sane won the title from Baszler in August at Takeover: Brooklyn 4, however, she would later lose the title at Evolution. Last month at the Evolution pay-per-view, she defeated Sane for the title and she became the only woman in NXT history to become a two-time champion. She may be a two-time champion now, however, she did not do all of this on her own.
At the Evolution pay-per-view, Baszler received help from her MMA best friends Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke. This has made the feud between these two ladies even more personal. The match for this Saturday has a stipulation to go along with it. As tensions have boiled over between the two, this match will be a 2 out of 3 falls match with Sane vowing that Baszler will not beat her twice.
Up until the past few years, women’s matches did not have many stipulations, especially in the WWE. With the ever growing evolution in WWE however, we are starting to see more women’s matches with stipulations. Impact Wrestling has had more frequent matches, years prior, that placed their knockout division on par with the men. On the day of this pending matchup, let’s look back at the top five matches that have had stipulations.
