Candice LeRae is reportedly now a free agent.
According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, LeRae’s WWE contract has expired. It was reported earlier this year that LeRae’s deal was up in the spring and there was no indication of an extension at that point.
Earlier today, LeRae was added to the alumni section of WWE.com which prompted Fightful to speak with WWE sources who confirmed that she is now a free agent. LeRae has been out on maternity leave as she gave birth to her first child in February.
LeRae’s husband, former NXT talent Johnny Gargano, left the company in December and hasn’t wrestled since. His contract expired and chose not to re-sign at that time. LeRae’s last appearance on screen was at the Indi Hartwell/Dexter Lumis wedding. She is a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Hartwell and along with her husband, Austin Theory, and later Lumis/Persia Pirotta formed The Way stable.
As of a few weeks ago, Fightful had heard there were talks of an extension for LeRae but haven’t heard how that landed since. One WWE source stated that if they had their way, the decision to freeze the contract during maternity leave would be “in her court” but weren’t given any indication that was the case.
Hartwell is the last member of The Way stable still with the NXT brand. Theory is now on the main roster as the United States Champion and Lumis/Pirotta were released from the company last Friday.
