The Most Beautiful Woman in All of WWE Carmella hits six years on the main roster this month. Much like Alexa Bliss, Carmella was chosen during the 2016 WWE Draft to come up to the main roster from NXT. She would become the last one drafted during the announcements.
Carmella’s first main roster appearance was on the same day as Bliss, July 26, 2016. On SmackDown, both Carmella and Bliss along with Naomi and Eva Marie confronted Becky Lynch to stake their claim as the top of the women’s division.
A week later, Carmella would have her first match on SmackDown where she moon walked away with a victory on Natalya. Much as many women who were debuting around this time on the main roster including Bayley, Carmella would first sign with WWE in 2013 and first appeared in September 2014. Collectively, she is approaching a decade signed with the company and eight years since her first televised appearance. She first peaked her interest with WWE during Season 5 of Tough Enough where she applied but withdrew herself from the selection process as she became an Los Angeles Laker Girl.
Carmella has gone through a few gimmick changes on the main roster. From her FABULOUS gimmick to her most recent Untouchable Era which developed into “The Most Beautiful Woman in all of WWE.” For months she would also wear a face mask during her matches so that her face would be protected. She just started recently wrestling without it once again.
Money in the Bank matches started for the women in 2017 and Mella will forever be known as the first woman ever to grab the briefcase (albeit with controversy that it had to be done twice). She is also the only woman to this day to hold the briefcase for more than 24-hours as she cashed in 287-days later on Charlotte Flair to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion. Carmella’s mic skills excelled during her championship reign.
She would also go on to become a winner of the Women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion along with Zelina Vega. Partnered up with R-Truth, Mella would also be a pioneer for the 24/7 Championship and although she wasn’t the first woman to win it she has become a four-time champion.
Over the years so far, Carmella has had memorable feuds with Charlotte Flair, Asuka, Nikki Bella, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and Bianca Belair.
