The NEW SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan wasn’t finished on the Raw brand just yet as she embraced the crowd in San Diego, Calif. soaking in her first championship victory at Money in the Bank. The effervescent Morgan first addressed the fans by stating that her first taste of gold wasn’t just for her but for all of the supporters that have been with her throughout. She thanked the fans for sticking with her.
She was interrupted by SmackDown’s and potential future foe Natalya. Natalya, who weakened Ronda Rousey before Morgan’s cash-in on Saturday, wanted credit for just that. Nattie says she should be the one being thanked, not the fans but instead of a thank you, she rather just take the SmackDown Women’s Champion. Morgan says if Nattie really wanted a shot at the gold she knows where to find her.
Carmella‘s music hits and she makes her way to the ring. After losing to Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship…Carmella isn’t done with the spotlight and still intends on becoming the next champion. After some back and forth between her and Morgan, both her and Nattie attack the new champion with the numbers advantage. This is until Belair rushes down the ring to help the blue brand’s champ. Adam Pearce emerged to make a tag team match between the champions Belair & Morgan against Nattie & Carmella.
The match would end with Morgan getting the victory for her team which is a great way to cement her start as SmackDown Women’s Champion. She delivered ObLIVion on Nattie to get the pin. It was announced in a commercial for SmackDown later in the night that Ronda Rousey will respond to her loss and to Morgan being the new champion on this Friday’s show.
In an Exclusive on YouTube after Raw, Belair and Morgan were interviewed about their win. Belair welcomed and congratulated Morgan for winning her first championship over the weekend and felt grateful that Morgan cashed in on Ronda instead of her.
As for Belair’s next potential opponents, several women are staking claim on the title picture. As we saw, Carmella feels she isn’t done with Belair, Bliss spoke later in the night saying she was ready for some gold around her waist and let’s not forget about Becky Lynch and Asuka.
Lynch and Asuka tore it down in the main event of Raw once again. This time in a No Holds Barred match just two days removed from Money in the Bank. Lynch would pick up the win and receive some vindication. For more on that, you can click here.
The 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke returned as well after she reported that she was involved in a motor vehicle accident recently. She was featured in the 4th of July Cookout segment.
