She’s BACCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK!
Charlotte Flair has returned on the last SmackDown of the year and has become the NEW SmackDown Women’s Champion. She is walking into 2023 as a 14-time Women’s Champion.
How this came about for those that missed it, the scheduled match of the night was Raquel Rodriguez challenging Ronda Rousey for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. The bout was given plenty of time in the back half of the first hour heading into the second. There were a few moments that felt Rodriguez was going to become champion but with Shayna Baszler on the outside for Rousey it slimmed down Rodriguez’s chances. Commentary also heavily pushed the “injured” arm of Rodriguez.
The match came to an end as Rodriguez went up top with Rousey. Rousey then positioned herself to lock in the armbar as the two women were in the corner. The two women would then fall back into the ring with the armbar still locked in. Rodriguez would tap out as they hit the mat for Rousey to retain.
As Rousey along with Baszler went to speak on the mic after her victory, Flair’s music would hit. Actually, a new remixed theme of Flair’s music would play. Flair would make her return and had on new gear without her trademark robe on.
Flair would enter the ring and as Rousey started talking she would state that she wanted a match against her for the title tonight! The match would immediately start and it would only take a minute or so before Flair pinned Rousey to become the new champion.
Flair would grab the belt and celebrate in the crowd before heading up the ramp as a 14-time champion.
