In what has previously been a Twitter spat between Becky Flair and Ric Flair over the use of “The Man” moniker has become far more serious. As more information has arisen, Flair is actually quite serious that he doesn’t want “The Man” gimmick to be used unless he is receiving compensation.
The Twitter dispute between the two occurred when Lynch stated, “I am The Man.” His response was “To be the man, you gotta beat The Man. #alreadytrademarked.” Laying out his famous catchphrase as a response to Lynch.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, he attempted to “clear the air.” It has been noted that Flair has been trying to work out something with WWE in order to allow Lynch to continue to use the gimmick. The agreement is for Flair to be receiving payment. Unfortunately for Flair, WWE declined the request. He then reportedly took it to Triple H and then filed to own the pro wrestling moniker, “The Man.”
He further states that he loves Becky Lynch. He has been heavily behind the women’s division. This has caused an unsatisfying divide between him and his daughter Charlotte Flair.
He stated, “My daughter is so mad at me because I’ve filed, not even understanding, it’s not with Becky. I have no beef with Becky.” This seems to be an example of, it’s not personal, it’s just business.
He continues, “When I almost died two years ago, one person (his wife) stayed by me. The whole time, 31 days in the ICU, 12 days while I was dying on a respirator, and I’m gonna take care of her, and her family, and my family that has taken care of me no matter what.”
“I don’t care what the WWE thinks of me personally, I know they love me, but obviously they’ve lost respect for me.“
“Even if I won, Becky can have it all day long, I’m glad, but I want the company to pay me for it because I’m gonna take care of my family.”
Charlotte hasn’t commented publically about her displeasure of the events that have been happening. Regardless of where you stand as a fan of Charlotte, this appears to be putting her in a very difficult spot.
