Io Shirai has been hungry to get a chance at The Queen since WrestleMania. Shirai became the number one contender for the title after defeating five other women in a ladder match.
She had to sit back and watch Rhea Ripley defend her championship against Charlotte Flair to see who she would have to defeat to win her first gold within the company. Once she found it it was indeed Flair she has been very excited to have this match.
Flair took on Mia Yim this week as her first challenger in a non-title bout. Flair defeated Yim as she applied the Figure Eight to end the match with a submission. Afterward Flair’s victory, Shirai made her way down the ramp and told her that next week they will collide.
Speaking of the champion, Flair did get her nameplates put on the title. She shared this on her Instagram story:
