Update – Since the publishing of this article, Fightful Select has received additional information in regards to Chelsea Green. The report states that WWE had previously trademarked “Chelsea Green” which is the talent’s birth name, prior to her call up to SmackDown and when she signed her new contract in November 2020. She was released in April of this year. Fightful spoke with both WWE and Green about this situation and was told that WWE contacted Green Sunday night to let her know that they were going to release the trademark on her name and that she could use it.
Chelsea Green took to Twitter to address the situation about the rights over her name.
It was reported by PWInsider that WWE is attempting to keep hold of her name that they trademarked last year.
The report states that on August 5, WWE replied to an Office Action saying that the name identifies to Chelsea Green, and they were given her consent to trademark her name. They provided a letter dated November 2020, when Green was with the company. Green began the process of trademarking her name in April of this year.
Here’s what she posted:
“I never thought I’d be in a legal battle for my BIRTH GIVEN name… Going to discuss it on tomorrow’s episode of @GreenWEnvyPod“
Since her release for WWE, Chelsea Green has made a big impact. She is involved with Ring of Honor, IMPACT! Wrestling and NWA.
Green made a surprise appearance at IMPACT’s Slammiversary pay-per-view and Homecoming show. ROH announced her for the in-ring debut for Glory By Honor Night 2, and Mickie James added Green to the main event of EmPowerrr.
