Chelsea Green will be taking on Janai Kai on this evening’s last ROH Women’s Division Wednesday of the year.
ROH launched the weekly show in April to kick off the reboot of its women’s division. The first match was a tag team match between Laynie Luck & Hyan taking on Max the Impaler and Rok-C which ended in a time limit draw. Introducing Women’s Division Wednesdays led to those that impressed the Board of Directors Maria Kanellis Bennett enough to earn a ticket to gold.
A tournament started over the summer months which had 15 people vying for the new ROH Women’s World Championship. In the finals of the tournament at Death Before Dishonor in September, Rok-C defeated Miranda Alize to become the inaugural champion.
Green made her debut at the announcement of the participants to the tournament. She was not able to participate in the tournament due to injury but would be on commentary throughout. She would go on to have several matches with the company thereafter.
Kai had her debut with ROH at the beginning of December in a losing effort against Trish Adora. She has also recently appeared for AEW on Rampage against Jade Cargill.
ROH is taking a hiatus until April of 2022 and it is unsure what will come of Women’s Division Wednesday moving forward at this time. The talent has all been released from their contracts to pursue other options during the break. Bobby Cruise will be on Beyond the Belles after the match this evening to go behind the scenes.
