CMLL: Día de Muertos Week, Zeuxis Defends CMLL World Women’s Title

This week the CMLL celebrated the Day of the Dead on all their shows to honor all the legends that are not here with us. The shows were done on Tuesday and Friday of this week, from the Arena México in México City and the Arena Coliseo de Guadalajara.

The show in Guadalajara features two women tag matches, first a six-woman tag team match set up for one fall, which saw the team-up of Hatanna, Adira, and Zorah defeat the babyface team of Candela, Magia Azul, and Emperatriz, with Candela tapping out after Zorah applied a lockjaw.

The second match was a two-out-of-three-falls match contested between the team-ups Valkyria and Nexi versus Miss Guerrera and Lady Shadow. Valkyria and Nexi won the first fall when Nexi applied the Muta Lock on Lady Shadow, while the second fall was won by Lady Shadow after she applied an overeasy facebreaker on Nexi. The final moments of the match saw the babyface team, Lady Shadow and Miss Guerrera, score the win with a diving double underhook facebuster and diving armdrag, respectively.

Both matches were competitive, and it helped to showcase the depth of the roster besides the most frequent or known Amazonians, but the contrast between their more experienced wrestlers and the newer ones was evident.

The other show that was made on the 29th of October was on the iconic Arena México, from Mexico city. The card feature two womens matches, a Costa Rica and Japan versus México, two out of three tag match between Hera y Olympia against the joshi Sumika Yanagawa and CWE Superstar Samantha Black.

The heels (Hera and Olympia) won the first fall with a cornered sliding drop kick and a handstand bronco buster. The second fall was won by Samantha Black with a submission move that looked like a variation of a double armbar. The Mexican team got the win after they used Sumika Yanagawa as a weapon by throwing her on top of Samantha Black.

The final women’s match for the Tuesday event was a title match for the CMLL World Women’s Championship, which saw the reigning champion Zeuxis defeat the winner of the Grand Prix of Amazonas 2024, Reyna Isis. Zeuxis won after a double underhook knee facebreaker and making her submit with La Tapatia.

And lastly, on Friday, they also had the six women in two out of three tag team matches, where the team of Tessa Blanchard, La Catalina, and Kira defeated the team of Reyna Isis, Sanely, and the CMLL Word Women’s Champion Zeuxis.

All the losers of these events were taken to the Underworld by the guardians that were at ringside.

Who would you like to see face Zeuxis next? Is there any AEW/CMLL wrestler that you would like to see cross the “Forbidden Door” next?
