The countdown to this year’s WrestleMania is in full swing. WrestleMania 41 takes place on the weekend of April 19 and 20. 52 matches in the history of WrestleMania include women. Diva Dirt will countdown two matches daily to rank all 52 leading up to this year’s event.
We have reached numbers 44 & 43.
44. WrestleMania 23 –
Melina (c) def. Ashley – WWE Women’s Title Lumberjill Match
This wasn’t good. The match was under 4 minutes, which I guess was expected, however, even with that, the lumberjills weren’t used once. You had about 10 women standing around the ring, just to stand there. You could also tell how green Ashley was here even though I will personally fight for her! Melina retained, but this could have been so much better.
Ashley does appear the following year in a tag team match, but she is put with Maria who isn’t known for her wrestling ability either. That match has yet to come on this list.
43. WrestleMania 14 –
Sable & Marc Mero def. Luna Vachon & The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust
The better Sable match on this list falls just above the previous one. This is also Luna’s second time and higher showing. This match was surprisingly fun, but with a listed dominated by great women’s matches, it still falls towards the lower side.
Sable and Luna worked really well together in this match and the men also made the pace of it seem fun. This was another match that WWE surprising allowed the women to be the decision as Sable pinned Luna. The crowd was really into the finish and erupting with applause showing how over Sable was in this match.
