Today, UFC fighter Cris Cyborg visited the WWE’s Performance Center in Orlando. ESPN MMA reporter Ariel Helwani posted the photo of Cyborg on his Twitter page. It is unclear why the former UFC champ was at the PC, but rumors are circulating.
Fightful‘s Sean Ross Sapp reached out to Cyborg regarding her visit and she said, “Can you really call it a Royal Rumble if it didn’t have Cyborg Nation?” Perhaps she is just adding gas to the rumor fire, or she could be the next woman to make the transition from MMA to pro wrestling.
If she does make the transition, she will join Ronda Rousey, along with Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir.
This isn’t the first time Cyborg and WWE have been in the same sentence. Back in 2017, she took to Twitter to challenge Becky Lynch to a match. A year later, Helway had her on his MMA show and asked Cyborg about joining WWE to fight her former opponent,Ronda Rousey.
Cyborg said, “If it is happening, maybe we can give the fans the fight they’ve never seen…I think it would be great for all the fans that would like to watch. I’m not sure about that 100%, but…I’ll talk to my manager and see what’s going to be, if its a good thing or not. I don’t know. Maybe it happens, maybe it’s not.”
Cyborg’s last fight was on Dec. 29, when she lost her UFC Featherweight Championship against Amanda Nunes at UFC 232. She told Helway back in September that her contract with UFC was nearing an end, so only time will tell if “Cyborg Nation” jumps ship to WWE.
