Dakota Kai has obtained the sixth and final spot for the Ladder Match to determine the next number one contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.
She won the second chance Gauntlet Match on tonight’s episode that featured all the women who previously lost their qualifying matches. Kai was the final entrant and in the end she executed a kick to pin Shotzi Blackheart.
Blackheart attempted to run the gauntlet as she started the match and after eliminating Deonna Purrazzo, Xia Li, Aliyah, and Kayden Carter she fell short. The presence of Raquel Gonzalez caused the distraction. Although Blackheart was able to thwart Gonzalez’s advances, it was enough for Kai to capitalize.
The six-woman Ladder Match takes place next week on April 8. As of now, this is the last taped episode of WWE programming. It is uncertain at this time what will come next as the state of Florida has issued a stay at home order due to the Coronavirus.
The winner of the number one contender’s match will be the next to face the NXT Women’s Champion. The current champ is Rhea Ripley but she is defending her title against Charlotte Flair this weekend at WrestleMania.
Kai joins Chelsea Green, Mia Yim, Io Shirai, Candice LeRae, and her recent bitter rival Tegan Nox.
