Dakota Kai & Tegan Nox win their shot at the Women’s Tag Titles

On this week’s NXT there was a match to determine the number one contenders for the Women’s Tag Team Titles. In a refreshing turn of events, the women’s tag team titles will be defended on the NXT brand next week. The match involved Dakota Kai & Tegan Nox facing two of the MMA Horsewomen – Marina Shafir & Jessamyn Duke.

Shafir and Duke would dominate the beginning of the match isolating Kai from her partner. Kai tries her best to reach Nox as Shafir tries to keep her back. Eventually, Kai would break away with a kick and tag in Nox. Nox would then clean house.

Duke would try to put away Nox with a roll-up and grabbing a hand full of tights. Nox would kick out and follow that up with a Shiniest Wizard to put away Duke for the win. Nox and Kai win and will be facing The Kabuki Warriors next week on NXT.

The Kabuki Warriors would appear on screen after the match. The champs would congratulate their new challengers and cut their promo in Japanese.

Also tonight we witnessed a great match between Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair. Although this match wasn’t announced as a number one contender match for the NXT Women’s Title it certainly had those implications.

This match saw a feat of strength between two powerhouses. In the end, Ripley would pick up the win when everything pointed to Belair. Io Shirai made her way to the ring to attack Ripley while the referee’s back was turned. As Shirai was on the ring apron, Candice LeRae would make her way out and pull her off the apron showing that their feud is far from over.

Belair took advantage of this distraction and received an incredibly close near fall with a two-count. Ripley would then hit her Riptide finisher and pick up the win.
