NXT Superstar Dakota Kai wrestled a match before this week’s edition of SmackDown.
Kai wrestled and defeated former NXT Superstar Aliyah before the show went on the air.
This was the New Zealander’s first main roster dark match while Aliyah has taken part in several in recent weeks since her reported call-up.
Kai joins numerous other NXT wrestlers who have participated in dark matches. Xia Li, Indi Hartwell were recently used while Shotzi Blackheart, Tegan Nox and Toni Storm wrestled before SmackDown tapings prior to their respective call ups.
Kai recently shocked the NXT world when she turned on her long-time friend and partner Raquel Gonzalez. The NXT Women’s Champion was boasting about how she had a through the entire division when Kai blasted her with a vicious kick.
The following week Kai revealed the reason for the attack stating that she is no one’s sidekick.
The Captain of Team Kick has a history of turning on her friends. At the first-ever women’s WarGames match she destroyed Tegan Nox, turning heel in the process.
Since then she has teamed with Gonzalez in a partnership that saw them become the first-ever NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions.
