Rumors were flying last week that new titles were going to make their debut on SmackDown after the brand split and today they are closer to being true after an interview with Daniel Bryan revealed such plans are on the table.
Prowrestling sheet is reporting WWE will soon have an additional women’s championship for the blue brand.
Bryan was interviewed by the Bear Hug It Out podcast this week and when asked about the Universal Championship being announced on RAW, he said SmackDown will unveil new championships too, albeit slowly – perhaps not to overshadow Sasha Banks‘ anticipated win on Raw last week and steadily build the women’s division on SmackDown.
“It’s great to have the only REAL world championship.” Daniel added, “I’m not against them creating the title. We are gonna do that for the women for SmackDown Live. But, we are taking our time with it to make sure that we do it right.”
