Ranking #10 – Gigi Dolin
Last Week – 9
Like Jacy Jayne before her, Gigi Dolin took to the mic this week to address her ‘toxic’ nemesis and build up towards their match at Roadblock.
In a passionate and emotional promo, added new depth to their ongoing feud, Dolin would share her troubles from her past with the NXT Universe while vowing to silence Jayne once and for all when they meet next week.
Ranking #9 – Mickie James
Last Week – 1
Coming off of a successful title defence last week, Knockouts Champion Mickie James got to put her feet up and relax this week.
Only joking, no sooner was Jame done patting herself on the back was she checking for a bigger target there as Gisele Shaw issued a challenge.
Hardcore Country herself is always ready to go so the match is already official meanwhile, should James prove the victor, she already knows that Jordynne Grace is claiming her rematch clause right after.
Ranking #8 – Saya Kamitani
Last Week – N/A
In a match with the results being widely debated on Twitter, with many commending both women for the quality of the match, Saya Kamitani defended her Wonder of Stardom Championship for the 15th time. Her opponent was Hazuki who brought to the fight to the champion in a near 25 minute battle.
Although Kamitani got the victory, she was already looking to April 23rd where she has nominated Mina Shirakawa to be her challenger.
Ranking #7 – Meiko Satomura
Last Week – N/A
At Roadblock we are prepared to witness Meiko Satomura take on the NXT Women’s Champion, Roxanne Perez, for the title.
Satomura has proven before that she can beat Perez and the past weeks have been her demonstrating in few words how much of a threat she is to Perez’s reign while still holding a level of mutual respect between the two.
Zoey Stark had called out The Final Boss and demanded this match up so with the champion watching ringside, the challenger met Stark and silenced her complaints in a hard fought match.
Words were exchanged between challenger and champion but so far, they continue to be professionals.
Ranking #6 – Ruby Soho
Last Week – 6
‘Can a woman really be an island?’
Ruby Soho has spent weeks in the middle of the ‘outsiders’ vs the ‘homegrown’ talent of AEW but she has made her intentions clear: the AEW Women’s Championship.
While the two sides seem intent on throwing shade, fists and handing out L’s, Soho has let her actions speak for her. Condemning the antics of Saraya and Toni Storm while not forgetting that Jamie Hayter still sits atop the mountain.
There are three competitors in tonight’s championship match but Soho is the only one on our rankings as she is the most interesting element to the match. Even the promo shared by AEW focuses in on Soho’s role as opposed to the champion herself.
Ranking #5 – Willow Nightingale
Last Week – N/A
ROH made it’s return this week and current ROH Women’s Champion Athena, has been preparing for a new challenger for months.
Willow Nightingale took part in the first singles women’s match for the return show and would defeat Lady Frost. After her arm was raised, Nightingale would issue a challenge to Athena herself who came out and eventually accepted.
Nightingale is known to audiences as she has appeared in AEW recently and will prove an excellent addition to the women’s division on ROH.
Ranking #4 – Gisele Shaw
They say an image speaks a thousand words and the shot of Gisele Shaw strutting to the ring with Jai Vidal and new friend Savannah Evans has plenty to say.
Shaw looked every bit the Quintessential Diva as she confronted Knockouts Champion Mickie James on Impact this week.
The odds seem severely stacked against our champion as Shaw has been on a bit of a hot streak, fresh off a victory over Deonna Purrazzo, could this finally be Shaw’s time to shine?
Ranking #3 – Asuka
Last Week – 4
Aside from just missing out at the Royal Rumble, Asuka has returned to form as an unstoppable force on RAW and her goal is Bianca Belair‘s RAW Women’s Championship.
In an entertaining match on RAW, Asuka would put away Carmella before taking to the mic. Like me, Belair does not speak Japanese but she came out anyway and remained confident in her ability to not only win at Wrestlemania but that the two will put on an incredible match.
Ranking #2 – Trish Stratus
Last Week – N/A
Is it 2005 again because this past week on RAW I felt transported back to Trish Stratus making her return to even the odds with Ashley against Vince’s Devils!
Looking as fantastic as ever, Stratusfaction was delivered when Trish came to the ring to a huge pop to neutralise the presence of Bayley in the main event of RAW. After a brief reunion with Lita, Stratus would watch as her Team Bestie partner took to the top rope and secured not only the win but the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles for herself and Becky Lynch.
Ranking #1 – Becky Lynch and Lita
Last Week – 2
It’s hard to say anything about this pair winning the titles that hasn’t already been said in the comments section this week. Whether you are elated for this victory or disappointed on behalf of Damage CTRL, the point is people are talking about the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles again for the first time in a long while.
It took two Hall of Famers and The Man herself to pry these titles from Damage CTRL and whatever the story going in to Wrestlemania is, we can hope that others teams will step up and join the fray.
Regardless of where it goes, Lita makes history as the first women to have held both the WWE Women’s Championship and the Tag Team Championship while Lynch has secured one of the few current titles to have eluded her so far.
What do you make of this week’s ranking? Are you excited for the return of ROH? Let us know in the comments!
