Ranking #5 – Rhea Ripley
Last Week – N/A
Imagine not even having an official match but being instrumental in two title changes within the span of two days. That is the power of Rhea Ripley.
First, Ripley would take out the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions in a backstage confrontation that ultimately led to them losing their titles. Then, Ripley would follow Judgement Day to NXT for Dominik’s shot at the NXT North American title and again, Ripley got her way and Dom would become champion.
The WWE Women’s World champion would complete her tour of WWE brands by appearing on Smackdown and assist Dom in successfully retaining his title against Butch.
Her actions have drawn the ire of the former tag champions so while Ripley may not be too involved in the women’s division lately, it seems the women’s division is about to be involved with her.
Ranking #4 – Asuka
Last Week – 9
Most of the time a champion is told they will defend their title in a multi-person match, you would hear complaints and statistics of how easy it is to lose the belt without being involved in the decision. Asuka is not most champions.
In reality, Asuka may in fact excel within the chaos of the triple threat match that has been made official for Summerslam. As a warning, Asuka would take out one of her challengers on Smackdown when she would attack Charlotte Flair who was recovering from her own match.
Ranking #3 – Charlotte
Last Week – N/A
With the WWE Women’s Championship match official for Summerslam, Charlotte would be the only one of the three participants to get in the ring this week as she takes on Ms. Money in the Bank, IYO SKY.
The match granted Charlotte an opportunity to show off a perhaps more babyface move set with more acrobatics and high risk manoeuvres while also making SKY look strong even in defeat.
Charlotte would end the night laid out by Asuka but her impressive win still puts momentum in her corner.
Ranking #2 – Sonya Deville & Chelsea Green
Last Week – 8
IT FINALLY HAPPENED!
Being completely biased for just a second as someone who has followed Sonya’s career since Tough Enough and loved seeing an openly gay person within the WWE, this title win has had the biggest impact on me than any in recent memory.
Chelsea Green has arguably been the greatest rehiring by Triple H who has been consistently impressive and entertaining week after week. The duo becoming the WWE Women’s Tag Team champions is so deserved and long overdue!
Ranking #1 – Athena
Last Week – N/A
The No.1 spot this week has got to go to the #ForeverChamp Athena after yet another successful title defence this week.
Athena and Willow Nightingale would clash in the main event of ROH Death Before Dishonor PPV, marking the first time that women have done so for a ROH event.
In Athena’s regular spots on the Power 15, I remark how she is often carrying ROH with her near weekly stellar matches and having held the ROH Women’s championship since December 2022. This title defence saw a slightly different outcome for Athena who had taken to beating down her opponents after defeating them but this time Athena would raise the hand of her challenger so the two would both be standing tall after the bell rang.
