DD Power 15: July 30 to August 05

Ranking #10 – Gisele Shaw & Savannah Evans

Gisele Shaw would represent her team in singles action this week when she defeated Heather Reckless on Before The Impact.

Both Shaw and Evans are preparing for their first shot at the Knockouts Tag Team Championships at Emergence, this victory and the one Shaw picked up over Masha Slamovich recently just adds to their momentum.

Ranking #9 – The Coven

Our new Knockouts Champion already has her first PPV challenger set as she will grant Deonna Purrazzo a rematch for the title but thanks to The Coven’s actions, the match may be a less friendly affair than their first.

Angered at Trinity‘s recent win over KiLynn King, The Coven would confront the champion and find themselves in an impromptu match against champion and challenger on Impact.

A miscommunication would result in Trinity taking out Purrazzo and allowing KiLynn King to pick up the victory, a huge notch in the win column for The Coven.

Ranking #8 – Kris Statlander

The TBS Champion would return to her run of title defences on Collision this week when she faced veteran talent Mercedes Martinez.

The pair would be evenly matched throughout and it would be a roll-up exchange that would secure Statlander the victory.

Martinez would not be happy with the victory and continue to attack Statlander until Willow Nightingale would make the save. A potential feud for the TBS title would be a welcome change of pace for Statlander and the belt .

Ranking #7 – Athena

The #ForeverChamp would prove her right to that moniker as she successfully defended the belt once again against fresh opponent, Diamante.

In an interesting change for Athena, she opted not to attack her fallen opponent post-match as she has become accustom to doing so.

Ever since her showing of respect to Willow Nightingale, could we be seeing a new attitude brewing within Athena?

Ranking #6 – Roxanne Perez

In front of her family, literally, Roxanne Perez managed to overcome not only Blair Davenport but her own anxiety in a huge victory at the Great American Bash.

Davenport would take full advantage of the Weapons Wild stipulation which ultimately pushed Perez to do the same as she would put Davenport through a table before delivering Pop Rox on to a stack of steel chairs.

With her home state celebrating with her, Perez stands tall and looks ready for her next challenge!

Ranking #5 – Shayna Baszler

In the first match of its kind that took advantage of their history, Shayna Baszler would defeat Ronda Rousey at Summerslam in what is rumoured to be Rousey’s last match for the foreseeable.

Baszler has demonstrated the old viciousness of her previous character in recent weeks with her swift victories but also a vulnerability in her recent promo regarding her friendship with Rousey.

The story was there for the two, albeit overall rushed due to unfortunate injuries but the fact remains Baszler got a huge victory and with Rousey firmly behind her, she has made her desire to go after the title clear.

Ranking #4 – Tiffany Stratton

The NXT Women’s Champion had a lot to prove going in to the Great American Bash after she tapped out to Thea Hail in their previous bout.

The stipulation itself offered no advantages to Tiffany Stratton but she was able to emerge the victor thanks to Andre Chase throwing in the towel for the young Hail.

The match itself was solid, garnering quite the reaction from the live crowd with some controversy not just about the finish but in a moment where the crowd believed Stratton had tapped once more leading to dueling chants.

Stratton did not appear live on NXT but Hail was visibly still affected by the loss and tensions remain within Chase U.

Ranking #3 – Hikaru Shida

In the main event of a historic episode of AEW Dynamite, the 200th episode to be exact, Hikaru Shida would face off against Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s Championship.

Shida has held the title before but Storm would of course be accompanied by her fellow Outcasts for the main event bout.

Despite Storm’s best efforts, Shida would prevail and become a two time AEW Women’s Champion and would celebrate, emotions high, with her new title.

Ranking #2 – Bianca Belair

What does the longest reigning and shortest reigning Women’s Champions of the modern era have in common? They’re both called Bianca Belair.

In one of the four main events at Summerslam, Asuka would go in to the triple threat match as champion hoping that the recent competitiveness between Charlotte and Belair would work in her favour and it almost did.

In a scary moment, Belair went down at ringside clutching her knee and appeared to be in legitimate pain (thankfully this was not kayfabe) but as Charlotte held Asuka in the figure-eight, Belair would struggle to the top rope and hit a stunning 450 splash on a vulnerable Charlotte.

This would still not secure the win and in turn, Belair herself would be locked in the submission hold but still manage to roll up Asuka and shockingly pick up the victory and the WWE Women’s Championship.

The crowd and Belair were stunned and elated by the victory until…

Ranking #1 – IYO SKY

Seconds after Belair wins her third Women’s Championship, the music of Miss Money in the Bank, IYO SKY, would hit and she would come sprinting to the ring with Bayley and her briefcase in tow.

Garnering one of the loudest reactions of the night, SKY and Bayley would take out Belair and after a beautiful moonsault, the title would change hands yet again.

The injured Dakota Kai would appear in the ring to celebrate her teammates moment and it could be seen even on SKY’s face that she could hardly believe it herself.

The moment itself is easily one of the highlights from Summerslam, the same PPV that she made her main roster debut at just last year.
