DD Power 15: Mar. 05 to Mar. 11

Ranking #10 – Meiko Satomura

Last Week – 7

NXT Roadblock was rightfully headlined by Meiko Satomura vs Roxanne Perez title match.

The story going in to the match revolved around their mutual respect but also highlighting Satomura’s extensive experience and higher resilience over the still young but decorated champion.

Perez would come out with the win after an onslaught from Satomura but the story coming out of the show was Perez’s collapse after the match. Satomura could only watch from the corner as Perez was stretchered out of the arena.

Ranking #9 – Carmella & Chelsea Green

Last Week – 11

They may not be ranking up the wins but there is little dispute that Carmella and Chelsea Green are collectively one of the most interesting parts of RAW week to week.

The duo met for the first time last week and hit it off immediately, this week Carmella would ask Green to be in her corner for her upcoming match for moral support.

Green would deliver this support in numerous ways, desperately trying to get Carmella the victory. Carmella would come up short but Green would act quickly and take out the RAW Women’s Champion.

The night may not have ended the best for Green after receiving a face full of mist but she will get her chance to retaliate next week.

Ranking #8 – Jordynne Grace

Last Week – N/A

Since losing the Knockouts Championship, Jordynne Grace as waited patiently to cash in her rematch clause, watching the champion closely the past few weeks.

She has made it known that she will be facing off against the winner of Gisele Shaw vs Mickie James but this week she would give herself a tune-up match by taking on Alex Gracia.

Grace would demonstrate her obvious power advantage before putting away Gracia. We now know in two weeks, Grace will meet James once again with the title on the line.

Ranking #7 – Gigi Dolin

Last Week – 10

At Roadblock former Toxic Attraction members went one-on-one. The match could have been even more but due to what happened post match, the business between Dolin and Jacy Jayne is certainly not over. Gigi is getting the 7th position this week for picking up the win during this high stakes match.

Ranking #6 – Athena

Last Week – N/A

With the revived ROH shows comes more opportunities for that division and it’s champion to compete. Athena has mostly been competing on Dark and Elevation, which this week she also did with a win over Brooke Havok, but Athena breaks the Top Ten by successfully defending against Willow Nightingale.

The women main evented this weeks show in an incredible match that would see Athena hit the Eclipse to finally stop her opponent. She wasn’t done there however and would viciously attack Nightingale as a warning to her and future challengers to her throne.

Ranking #5 – Roxanne Perez

Last Week – N/A

Nobody would ever claim that being a champion is easy but I can’t help but feel like Roxanne Perez has had one of the roughest starts as a title holder.

Her first defence was almost a handicap match throughout and her second saw her come up against The Final Boss in the main event of Roadblock.

Perez would take strike after strike in the match, trying to counter Satomura’s blows with her speed, a tactic that would eventually score her the pinfall victory.

The champion would sadly not end the night standing tall but instead be stretchered out to a chorus of applause from the NXT crowd.

Ranking #4 – Mickie James

Last Week – 9

One thing Impact! does get right is it’s treatment of Mickie James as not only a living legend but one who can still deliver in the ring without missing a beat.

James would face off against Gisele Shaw this week with a seemingly insurmountable challenge as Shaw would bring Jai Vidal and Savannah Evans to ringside with her.

In an almost one sided lumberjack match, James had to contend with Shaw in the ring and the presence of Shaw’s allies outside the ring.

An unlikely ally for James would come up from commentary and counter Evans and Vidal’s interference, helping James secure the victory and the title.

Whether Shaw intends to challenge again will need to wait as James’ next defence is booked for Sacrifice against Jordynne Grace.

Ranking #3 – Jamie Hayter

Last Week – N/A

Although Jamie Hayter went in to Revolution as Champion, she was not necessarily the favourite going in to the title match.

Hayter had to work to keep her emotions in check as weeks of rivalry fuelled her in her title defence. Toni Storm remained ringside for Saraya while Ruby Soho was still the unknown element.

Still, the champion would come out with the victory and prove herself as the top of the division. Post match, The Outcasts had the last laugh so it is unlikely this is the end of their rivalry.

Ranking #2 – Trish Stratus

Last Week – 2

It’s official! Trish Stratus is coming out of retirement to team up with long-time bestie Lita and Becky Lynch to face Damage CTRL at Wrestlemania.

Stratus had been rumoured to be involved in Wrestlemania for some time and after she rushed to the ring to take out Bayley weeks ago, the picture began to form.

This week, during a promo in the ring, Stratus would throw down the gauntlet to Damage CTRL and would be denied at the last minute of hitting a Chick Kick to Bayley before the group retreated.

Ranking #1 – Becky Lynch & Lita

Last Week – 1

Two weeks in a row and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions get featured in prominent spots and are now officially involved in the build up to Wrestlemania.

It is hopeful thinking that WWE will keep this kind of energy going forward even after Wrestlemania. Lita herself has commented on the stop and start booking of the tag division and hopes to continue to elevate it.

The Hall of Famer is already having an affect on the treatment of the titles. She and her fellow champion would celebrate this week on RAW and be interrupted by the former champions, Damage CTRL. Now, the champion with Trish Stratus will compete against Damage CTRL at Wrestlemania but with several weeks to go until then, what will the champions do next/

What do you think of this week’s rankings? What was your favourite title defense of the week? Let us know in the comments!
